A cosy cottage in the Lake District is the perfect place to staycation with your pooch this winter. Each lake and valley has its own distinct charm and there is plenty to explore whichever part you visit.

A winter break in the Lake District offers plenty of opportunities for crisp morning walks, snowy views and boat trips on the lakes. After a day of exploring with your pooch, we think retiring to a cosy cottage with an open fire is the best way to end the day! Low Kiln Hill is a lovely four bedroom cottage in Bassenthwaite, a short drive from Keswick. This property allows up for up to eight guests and four dogs.

Built from local stone, this cosy cottage has a lovely wood burning stove in the living area and plenty of books to choose from for a cosy night in! We can just picture ourselves snuggling up on the sofa when it starts to get chilly outside.

Windermere itself has so much to offer. You can check out England’s largest lake, go on some stunning walks, or even do some watersports if you and your pooch are feeling adventurous!

This chic cottage near Ullswater is the ideal place to cosy up after a day of exploring near the lakes. Swallowdale has space for two humans and one well behaved pooch.

Catering for up to four humans and two dogs, this roomy cottage has all of the home comforts that you might need. Our favourite thing about this property is the exposed beams which are just gorgeous! The living room has a smart TV, so you can settle in for the night by the wood burning stove and watch your favourite movie.

Barbondale

This adorable detached pod-shaped cottage is situated just on the outskirts of the Lake District. With space for two humans and one dog, this charming studio space has everything you need for a long weekend break.

Offering stunning views of the surrounding moorlands, Barbondale is the perfect place for a couple on a romantic weekend. With a hot tub and woodburning stove, you’ll be warm in no time on a cold winter’s day. This cosy cottage is the perfect place to retreat after a long day of exploring the nearby Lakes or Yorkshire Dales.

Hawkshead was once home to Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. We just know that there will be plenty of history to sniff out and explore here! With cobbled alleyways and whitewashed houses, we think this property is perfectly located for charming walks with your dog.

After you’ve finished exploring the nearby village, you can snuggle up by the woodburning stove and watch a movie on the huge wall-mounted tv. Or you can even take a dip in the shared estate’s indoor heated swimming pool!

This cosy cottage for two humans and one dog is nestled in the tranquil village of Backbarrow. After a day of adventuring with your furry friend, the incredible woodburning stove at Birch House will be waiting for your return to keep you warm.
