They also have a good source of calcium, phosphorus and vitamins A, C, and K. That’s not to mention the antioxidants contained in apples that help to prevent illnesses. Apples can also improve your dogs’ dental health and breath, too.
When Are Apples Bad For Dogs?
Stay away from the seeds and core of an apple. The seeds contain traces of cyanide, which is toxic. Quite a few seeds would need to be consumed to cause cyanide poisoning, but it’s why risk your dog’s health? Remove the seeds and stem for safety! The core of the apple can also present a choking hazard or, if swallowed, cause a gastrointestinal blockage.

We also recommend steering away from apple-flavored products not designed for dogs. They often have sugar, artificial flavors, or chemicals that aren’t suitable for our pooches. Always read the label and avoid added sugars, artificial sweeteners such as xylitol.

Before feeding your dog an apple, give it a wash and remove the stems, seeds, and cores. The best step from here is to cut them into bite-sized slices.
