How to Spend a Dog Furiendly Weekend in Swansea

How to Spend a Dog Furiendly Weekend in Swansea

We’re super excited to be hosting Wales’ very first cinema screening in Swansea next February with Cinema Co Swansea. It’s also Valentines weekend, so why not treat your pooch and make a little holiday of it? Whether you and your lovely other are being dog blocked by your pooch or the only love of your life is your pooch. Here’s our guide to how you can spend the weekend in Swansea.

What event?

Oh, haven’t you heard? We’re getting the pupcorn in and hosting Wales’ first dog friendly Cinema screening with Cinema & Co in Swansea. We’re welcoming you and your pooch to the cinema for a night of quizzing and a jolly good film. That film? Homeward Bound which by the way is celebrating it’s 25th birthday!

Doors will open at 6pm for drinks and schmoozing/woofing at the bar, the QUIZ will begin at 6.30pm. The film will begin at 8PM. Arriving early to get the best seats is highly recommended! Get your tickets here.

Where can we eat beforehand?

There’s plenty of food places to enjoy in Swansea. Some of our favourite places sit just around the corner from Cinema Co, making them the perfect place to grab a bite to eat before the event!

Looking for food with a view? We love Thai restaurant, Bay View Bar & Thai Dining. This lovely place boasts fantastic views on the seafront of Swansea Bay and the lighthouse. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a scenic walk on Swansea Bay.

On the doorstep to Cinema Co is the lovely Zinco Lounge! We love these classic lounges as they’re pawfect for a bite to eat or cheeky cocktail. You’re pooch will get treated to a complimentary bowl of water and a little Bonio biscuit. You can even order a little sausage for the dog with your meals too.

Where can I stay with my pooch?

Looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend? We recommend the Travel Lodge in Swansea Central (£20 per pup), it’s just around the corner from the cinema and a short walk away from the train station.

Looking for something on the waterfront? Devon View is a short walk away (£10 per pup).

If you’re up for a nice 30 minute waterfront walk from Cinema Co, the Ibis comes highly recommended (£10 per pup).

There’s also several places we love on Airbnb.

Where can we grab a fully English breccy?

Of course, you and the pooch are going to want a brisk morning walkies and a spot of breakfast to fill you up. Our favourite places lie on either side of Swansea Bay.

Dogs are always welcomed in the Coast Cafe where dogs are allowed inside, downstairs.  The staff are lovely and have some biscuits on hand to welcome and spoil our poochies. Next door is the lovely Coffee Fresco, which is the pawfect place to watch the world go by.

On the other side of Swansea Bay is the 360 Cafe. This place has a lovely, chilled out vibe and the views are spectacular. It is dog friendly outside only, but they have a heated shelter available for us and our poochies.

By the time we found out about your Cinema and Co event it was sold out. Please say you will be having another one and let us know when. Also, coming from London, there are often doggie fancy dress walks/pub crawls often in aid of charity. Swansea would be great for such an event.

      Hi Mandy,
Thank you so much for getting in touch and sorry you didn’t manage to get a ticket for the last cinema event, it went really well and we’re hoping to run another one soon. Keep an eye on our website, like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram to keep up with all our upcoming events. We’re actually doing a fancy dress walk as part of our joint woof weekend with Top of the woods but a fancy dress doggie pub crawl sounds right up our street!

Hi Mandy, did you manage to get a ticket this time round? Our next cinema event takes place on Sunday 22nd! Our tails are wagging with excitement! 🙂
