Magnificent late Victorian country house with garden and wooded estate
Lanhydrock is the perfect country house and estate, with the feel of a wealthy but unpretentious family home.
After a devastating fire in 1881 the Jacobean house was refurbished in high-Victorian style, with the best in country house design and planning and the latest mod-cons.
Discover two sides of Victorian life: from the kitchens, nurseries and servants' quarters, which offer a thrilling glimpse into life 'below stairs', to the luxurious family areas, elegant dining room and spacious bedrooms which reveal the comforts of ‘upstairs’ living.
Make sure you take a stroll around the extensive gardens and enjoy their year-round colour. There are beautiful herbaceous borders, a fabulous formal parterre and colourful higher gardens filled with camellias, magnolias and rhododendrons.
f you've got a soft spot for friends of the four-legged kind, you're not alone. A quick browse through the Victorian family's albums reveals as many images of pets as of people.
Walks around the estate
You can pick up route guides for our estate walks at the gatehouse, reception and shop. You're welcome to park in our main visitor car park or the car park at Respryn, which is handy for riverside walks.
Walkies etiquette
Please keep dogs on their leads by riversides, in the woodland and in the parkland between 1 April and 31 December when livestock is grazing there. Sadly dogs (except assistance dogs) are not permitted in the house, gardens or on the cycle trails.
To help you help us keep Lanhydrock looking lovely we've got bins for dog waste in various places popular with dog walkers around the estate, including near reception, the car park and near the entrance to the house courtyard. You can download a map of these bins here:
Park Café
Until February 17 2019 you are welcome to bring your well-behaved dog into the Park Café while you enjoy a hot drink and a slice of cake.
Stables tea-room
The tea-room welcomes dogs whenever it is open - check out the front page for our opening times.
There is a covered area in the courtyard to help keep your pet cool on hot days and waterbowls both here and at reception.
