Details
Snelsmore Common is beautiful area of special scientific interest in Berkshire. It has 96 hectares of varied heathland waiting to be explored. You must ensure to stay on the main paths to protect the heathlands. Dogs are welcome all year round but must stay on leads during the bird nesting season (1 March - 31 July). It is also worth noting that there may be grazing ponies throughout the area so ensure to keep dogs close to you. Facilities for us humans include parking, toilets and a picnic area making this the perfect spot for a day out. There are plenty of bins available for your rubbish and dog waste. There is even a dog poo bag dispenser by the toilet block.
If you are looking for something extra to keep you entertained on your walk, you can download a crayon rubbing trail from the website which can be completed by following the "Easy access trail" in a clockwise direction. There are 7 plaques to stop at and make a wax rubbing of. Each of the plaques represent a bird, animal, plant or insect that are found in areas such as Snelsmore Common.
