Description
Gwaelod-y-Garth is a lovely dog furiendly pub situated just outside of Cardiff. They do have a car park just behind the pub, but to warn you it is very small and when it a warm weekend it will fill up very quickly. The main road is quite narrow, but there is usually parking available.
The offer water bowls for dogs, although not always topped up on hot day. Staff are friendly with the dogs and they are allowed inside, but on a lead at all times.
Just up from the pub, keep walking up the hill from the pubs car park, you will find Gwaelod y Garth mountain (keep following the hill and lanes up, you will see it). This is quite a steep climb but the views are incredible, so it is completely worth it, plus you’ll be reward yourselves with a drink at the pub and some food afterwards anyway!
If the mountain alone is enough of a climb for you, you could continue driving up the lane from the pub car park and park closer to the start of the mountain walk.
Parking is free and this is a lovely place to visit to combine a dog walk, gorgeous views and a dog furiendly pub to relax in afterwards.
