Situated in the heart of the beautiful Fforest Fawr
Garwnant is the gateway to the magnificent, Brecon Beacons National Park, and it's surrounded by beautiful forestry. The Garwnant Visitor Centre sits in the heart of this beautiful forest and is the starting point for walking trials - the perfect place to explore with the pooch.
Walking Trails
There's a couple of walking trails for you and your four legged pal to explore.
The Willow Trail stretches for half a mile, made for those looking for easy access to the forest and a gentle all-ability trail. It's perfect for visitors with wheelchairs, electric buggies and pushchairs. The Willow Walk has a number of stream crossings with bridges, and a lovely a willow tunnel.
The Wern Walk is made for those looking for something a little more adventurous and stretches for two miles. It's a woodland trail past the ruins of Wern Farm, which reveals this area's agricultural past. The trail returns to the visitor centre along a forest road which offers some good views along the way.
Garwnant Puzzle Trails
These puzzle trails offer the opportunity to make your walk a little more exciting. Perfect for those with children (or for those who love to let out their inner child). You can pick up a leaflet from the visitor centre and try out either our Animal Sculpture trail or accessible Tree Trail. Get spotting!
Garwnant's dog friendly restaurant
The best part of a walkies? Unwinding with a good ole cuppa and a spot of food! The restaurant is adjacent to the visitor centre and run by the community loving, Just Perfect Catering. The restaurant serves hot and cold drinks, cakes, lunches and daily specials. They source Welsh produce by working with small to medium artisan producers & family farms.
There are picturesque views from the restaurant area and there is outside seating for warmer days.

Visited here recently, during the COVID pandemic. The grounds are accessible, and dog friendly. Loads of grounds for the dogs to run around and a guided pathway to ensure social distance. Offers easy and hard routes. Plenty to do come rain or sun!

We visited here recently on a mini break to Wales. The scenery is breath taking and the routes are currently organised in to a one way system to help with social distancing. The visitor center wasn’t open due to Covid. However food and drink were being served as take away only and the toilets were open for use. An added bonus that the car parking iscurrently free. We loved walking round here with all the different trails. There was so much to see and plenty of places to stop for a picnic. Definitely can make a whole day out of a visit!

Our favourite go-to. The tea room offers plenty of refreshments as well as delicious cakes!
The scenery is beautiful with plenty for dogs to explore and tire them out.
Its a popular place for dog owners to take their pets so you can be sure that your dog will make friends along the way!
