Details
Cramond Beach is located just to the north of the historic village of Cramond, today an outer suburb of Edinburgh, about 5 miles west of the city centre. The beach is situated on the estuary of the River Almond, just to the west of the beach. At low tide the beach is vast and it is even possible to walk out to Cramond Island along the causeway, however, it is not possible to return at high tide, so it is important to check the tide tables if planning a trip to the island.

We love to walk at Cramond beach and promenade. There are wide-open spaces, perfect for social distancing. Parking is available at the village end next to Cramond Kirk and at Silverknowes with steps and step-free access to the promenade.
The beach is lovely and wide and plenty of space when the tide is out. There are also a couple of cafes nearby with outdoor space to sit at with the dog. One or two might even be dog friendly.

Cramond is a popular dog walking spot and can be very busy at peak times. There is lots of space on the beach when the tide is out and you can head out to cramond island when possible – just don’t get stranded as the tide comes in fast!
There are nice open spaces to explore as well as the beach too.
Boardwalk beach cafe is a fab dog friendly spot for food and drink pre or post walk too.

The island is well worth a visit, but the time can come in and out swiftly, so its recommended you check the times before going out.
The beach itself is very popular with dog walkers, and a car park is available, although it can get busy.
