Gelert's Grave is Beddgelert's most famous historical feature, Gelert was the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Prince Llewelyn the Great and the story of this faithful dog and his heroic but tragic end is written on the famous tomb stone. Just a short walk from the village, follow the footpath along the river Glaslyn, take in the beautiful scenery that will lead you to Gelerts resting place.
The area is well situated for hiking and water sports, and there is a narrow gauge train to Caernarfon and other points in Snowdonia National Park.
There is sheep grazing in the area, so be mindful and respectful of that.
