We welcome well behaved dogs and their owners to Graig Wen – our dog friendly accommodation in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. It’s a great place to bring your dog, with many wonderful walks from the doorstep and dog friendly beaches just a few minutes drive. There are local cafes and pubs in Barmouth and near Dolgellau which welcome dogs as well as families, serve food and are an hour or so walk along the estuary from Graig Wen or a few minutes by car.
As sheep graze nearby and small children wander around our buildings and camp site, visitor’s dogs must be kept on a lead on site at all times. They can be allowed off the lead to explore once on the Mawddach Trail which is a 5 minute walk down our steepish track to the estuary.
We have a super-friendly terrier called Gracie, a lurcher called Bryn who gets excited to meet new friends and a feisty cat which is fearless and pretty smart. They welcome visiting pets but please remember it is their home.
We ask that pets are not left unattended in our holiday cottages or yurts as even the calmest characters can get distressed when left alone in a new place. We can put you in touch with an excellent dog walker/sitter or nearby kennels to provide day care if you plan on taking the train up Snowdon or visiting another attraction such as Portmerion which is not dog friendly. But don’t worry, we can tell you about lots of attractions from castles to steam trains which welcome your four legged friends.
We make a charge for dogs visiting our camp site which is donated to a local animal shelter. In the last 2 years, Freshfields Animal Sanctuary has benefitted from over £1500 from our campers’ contributions.
We make a charge of £10/ dog to cover the extra cleaning we do in the cottages and yurts to ensure they are thoroughly clean for the next guests.
