The vision of King Edward Mine museum is to celebrate the mining history of Cornwall by collecting, stewarding and interpreting historical and engineering heritage in ways that increase knowledge and ignite curiosity among people of all ages and backgrounds. As Cornwall’s best preserved mine site , the buildings have been beautifully restored and now serve as a community hub for the Cornish Mining World Heritage area.
The museum and shop are open for the summer and well behaved dogs are welcome.
Explore the many buildings with their magnificent working mining machinery. All of the buildings are listed by English Heritage as Grade II* meaning that they are of exceptional national importance.
You will be able to immerse yourself in an unrivalled collection of mining history. A visit to the mine above ground is an opportunity to photograph some beautiful and unique Cornish mining heritage.
Visit the UNESCO Cornish Mining World Heritage landscape and walk the trail that runs through the site. With two iconic Cornish engine houses, South Condurrow stamps engine and winding engine. Whilst they are in ruins, The explain how they were part of our working mine.
Suitable footwear should be worn due to the uneven floors and some steep stairs.
