The three family and dog friendly Kirkennan Estate Holiday Cottages are located within the grounds of the beautiful and peaceful Kirkennan Estate bordered by the tidal Urr Water, close to the Solway Coast; an ideal location for exploring the whole of Dumfries and Galloway in South West Scotland. The cottages provide comfortable accommodation within 35 acres of formal lawns, woodland and walled garden which guests are invited to enjoy. They are also welcome to make friends with our free range chickens and guinea fowl. Red squirrels, roe deer, a range of birds, bats, badgers and, if you are lucky, otters can all be been seen on the Estate.
Guests can choose from wheelchair accessible Woodsedge Cottage (sleeps 5), The Lodge (sleeps 5 + 2) and The Mews (sleeps 4 + 1). Each cottage is well equipped for self-catering and has its own garden area; paved private roads extend through the formal gardens of the Estate that are suitable and accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs, young bike riders and mobility scooters (one is available for the use of guests). The cottages are dog friendly and we welcome up to 3 well behaved dogs at no extra charge (they can be let off the lead in our 14 acre Jock’s Wood).
Kirkennan is less than a mile from the friendly village of Palnackie with a pub, community run shop, art gallery and harbour. A short drive will take you to the 'food town' of Castle Douglas with a range of independent shops, or Dalbeattie known for its outdoor activities including 7-Stanes mountain biking. The wonderful Solway Coast with sandy beaches and dramatic coastal walks is minutes away and woodland walks are available from the doorstep.
