When No.1 Harbourside opened its doors in 2010 they wanted to show the people of Bristol they were not “just another bar”. Being independently owned they wanted to be a place for people, for affordable good times, celebrating local producers and showcasing top-notch music, two nights a week, for free, forever.
They have a strong belief in behaving responsibly. They’ve been awarded the Sustainable Restaurant Associations highest rating of three stars for their support of local and ethical suppliers, use of sustainable energy resources and their socially switched on people-centric approach.
They take deliciousness seriously and like the Slow Food philosophy of “good, clean and fair” – food that’s delicious, with no nasties and a fair price to producers.
They like meat, but think it should be a treat, so the menu includes a range of vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options. As well as seriously tasty seasonal dishes on the lunch and dinner menus, you can also fill up on homemade bar snacks and cakes – perfect with locally roasted coffee.
They aim to point to many of the good things about Bristol and its bio-region: the arts, local music, craft breweries, boats, bikes, farms and independent businesses of all kinds. To help breathe more life back into the Harbourside they created the Harbourside Market, celebrating highly creative, local traders and bringing people from all walks of life – not just stag parties – to the historic docks. The Harbourside Market runs outside No 1 Harbourside three times a week, bringing the best of Bristol’s street food, live music, makers and creators.
At No1Harbourside they love dogs so feel free to bring the whole family!
They embrace the weird and wonderful at No.1 Harbourside so come and join in with anything from a cooking demo, an oyster-shucking competition, tales of the sea from a tall-ship captain or a sample of our rare sail-shipped rum.
