Details
Nestled in East Angle Bay, mere steps from the coastline, this transformed former racehorse trailer offers a picturesque retreat within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
The Accommodation:
Every corner of this abode exudes charm, with each room paying homage to the racetrack. Whether you opt to unwind in The Winners’ Enclosure, refresh in The Tack Room, or relax in The Stables, you'll find comfort and character at every turn.
Step through the double-glazed doors into the inviting living and dining area, aptly named the Winners’ Enclosure. Here, you can cozy up by the log burner, prepare a pot of Welsh Brew tea on the stove top kettle, or peruse a selection of beloved books and board games.
At bedtime, retire to The Stables, where you can settle into the lorry cab or unfold the leather sofa bed. Admire the bespoke tartan curtains and hand-stitched cushions as you hang your garments on the saddle rack and stow your belongings in the original tack boxes.
Freshen up in Red Rum’s copper shower after a dip in the sea or a leisurely stroll, then cozy up by the fire or enjoy a drink at the nearby 16th-century Old Point House.
Guests' Access:
Upon arrival at Red Rum’s Retreat, parking is available for two cars beside the lorry. Cyclists can secure their bikes using the provided anchors when not exploring the coastal path, while the deck provides an idyllic vantage point for observing the ebb and flow of the tide.
Additional Information:
Previously owned by a local racehorse trainer, this lorry once transported up to five racehorses across the UK. Named after the legendary three-time Grand National champion Red Rum, this conversion project was a labor of love for Carwyn and Emily, who dedicated their summer of 2022 to creating a haven for their family and beloved cocker spaniel, Miss Ivy.
Every detail of Red Rum’s Retreat reflects Carwyn and Emily’s passion for design and craftsmanship, earning it a coveted spot on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces and garnering attention from admirers near and far. Well-behaved and clean dogs are welcome to join the retreat, though they are kindly asked to refrain from sofas and beds.
