Beautiful forestry walk and scenery with a number of dog friendly cafes and restaurants on route! Here you can admire the picturesque views of the River Wye and surrounding area. There are way-marked trails linking to the River Wye and a choice of circular walks.
There's an amazing lookout point reached by a short walk from Symonds Yat. There's also a pay and display car park. There's a little cafe that will bring you water for your pup, as well as public toilets and many benches and sites you can safely have BBQs and picnics!
From the rock & car park you can take many different walks through the local woodland and its a short drive down to the bottom of the cliff.
A pair of peregrine falcons nest annually within sight of the rock can be watched through telescopes set up by the RSPB.

We absolutely love Symonds Yat. There is so much to see and do and a day just isn’t enough so if you can, make a weekend of it and either camp or stay in a local B&B.
There are so many activities here (if you are without your dogs then you can do water activities such as kayaking etc) however as you will most likely have your dog(s) like we do then you can do so much walking and take in the ridiculously stunning scenery and nature around you. We love nothing more than a steady walk around (as we have a senior dog) and walk for miles in the day. We take a picnic with us and sit around either at the main centre on the benches (there’s also ice cream stand here) or we pop a blanket down and stop where ever our fancy takes us.
There are parts of the river where the dogs can have a little paddle although just keep an eye out as there are lots of birds and other animals around so don’t disturb them. Also the water can be deep in parts so make sure you check the signs around and only swim/paddle where safe to do so.
On hotter of days, there are plenty of shaded walks in the woods – we take a ball with us and have a good run around when we can to really get the cobwebs off us.
A true spectacle of an area, a must see!
There are loads of attractions near by too such as mazes and other things to do so if you don’t fancy too much walking, you can still get the most out of your day/weekend.

First time visiting and this place is beautiful. We parked at the rock car park which only accepts cash for parking. The views from the top were amazing and the walk along the river Wye was lovely. The climb down and back up was steep but not too far and there are few places you can stop to rest on the way if you need it. The river walk itself though was really flat and went on for miles. Plenty of dogs around both on and off lead. There is also a cafe at the top with out door seating as we visited on New Year’s Eve it was unfortunately closed when we got back but dogs are welcome on the picnic benches. There were also a number of restaurants along the river which were dog friendly we didn’t go in to test any out but they all had dogs sat on their benches (I’m sure waiting patiently for a share of their humans food). Fabulous place and we will definitely return
