Situated in Burford, Gateway to the Cotswolds, the Highway is steeped in history and offers the warm welcome of a traditional English pub with today’s comfortable modern touches.
This 15th century coaching Inn is run by a team who are passionate about good food and good service and it is open every day for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Drinks.
On offer is a high-quality menu of seasonal and locally-sourced produce in an intimate setting, accompanied with fine wines and local ales, be that in the dining room, cellar or main bar with its beamed ceilings original stone fireplace. A sunny outdoor terrace and a secluded medi-evil courtyard with log fire provide social outdoor spaces for dining and drinks.
The well-stocked bar has Hook Norton Hooky and always a guest ale on handpump, with much of ciders and lagers being supplied by Cotswold Brewing Co from nearby Bourton on the Water. While an extensive range of wines (including champagne) by the glass, speciality gins and other fine spirits complete the offer.
High quality food always includes a pie of the day, fresh fish and chips and some excellent steaks. As well as these traditional pub classics we also offer more refined options across our changing menu dependent on the season. Suppliers are locally-sourced wherever possible and include Kelmscott Country Pork, Mayfield Eggs, Cotswold Cheese Company and Aubrey Allen beef.
Should you wish to stay, the bedrooms are individually decorated in a modern English country house style with a mixture of designer fabrics and traditional wallpapers.
The Highway offers a home away from home for the young, old, little people and their four-legged friends. No matter how long you stay, you will be made most welcome.
Pepper&Chip
12/03/2022 at 8:28 pmWe stayed in Burford, the gateway to the Cotswolds, at the gorgeous @highway_inn_burford. We stayed in the Tanyton room, one of the 3 @dogfuriendly rooms they offer.
Our room was amazing and had its own private stairway and landing, which is great as it meant we had less noises from people moving around outside our door to send Pepper crazy. The pups also enjoyed having all the extra space to move around and play!
Our room came with a dog bowl and treats on arrival for the pups, as well as a card and box of chocolates for the pawrents.
The bed was very comfy and a pawfect spot to relax after a long day exploring the Cotswolds.
At breakfast, staff were more than happy to accommodate our request of an extra sausage for the dogs.
We really enjoyed our stay and wish it could of been longer!
