Full of character and life, our family and dog friendly inn offers excellent food, award-winning local ales and wines, a lovely garden, first rate accommodation and an element of the unexpected with our llama treks.
The Merry Harriers is a natural stopover for walkers, cyclists and dog owners and the perfect destination for an enjoyable meal with friends or a relaxing stay in one of our beautifully designed garden rooms, Inn rooms or our brand new to 2019 Shepherd’s Huts; a perfectly quirky twist on the glamping craze, a modernized alternative to the classic yurt.
Owned by local residents Peter and Lana de Savary, since May 2017, and managed and run by Jake Andreou, and House Dog Jake, we look forward to welcoming you and sharing the charm and comfort of this historic English inn.

Nestled in the Surrey Hills and close to a number of local attractions, the Merry Harriers is the pawfect spot for a Dog-Friendly getaway.
We stayed in a garden Room, which was kitted out with a dog bed and bowl on arrival.
There are plenty of beautiful walks surrounding the inn, with gorgeous scenery. When you’re ready you can refuel at the pub, with a restaurant that boasts delicious local produce and even a “dog’s dinner”, which my pup Kurtis took advantage of! The staff are so lovely and attentive, going out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as they can, and will make a fuss of your furry friend!
We had a wonderful stay, and were reluctant to leave, can’t wait to head back soon!

29/01/2022 at 6:50 pmWe won our trip to the Merry Harriers as part of a Dog Furiendly giveaway. Due to COVID our trip had got rescheduled several times but the booking team where extremely helpful throughout.
When we were finally able to have our stay, it did not disappoint! We had a one night stay in one of their amazing shepherd huts! A pawfect space for us as a couple with a small pooch. The hut was equipped with all the mod-cons you would need, a smart TV, robes and slippers, a chilled bottle of wine, tea & coffee making facilities with snacks not only for the humans but for the pup too! Also a dog toy, bed and water bowl were left for us to make use of which is really handy as it meant we could pack light! (Well sort of 😉 )
There was a really handy guide book of local walks left for us too which we took advantage of and complete a couple during our stay.
The highlight of our stay was definitely the fire pit, logs and fire lighting equipment were provided. We bought along our own marshmallows to roast. We really enjoyed sitting outside under the stars infront of the roaring flames. Given it was only a couple hours drive out of london, it really felt like a magical escape from city life!
Whilst we didn’t go on a trek with them, we did go to say hi to the resident llamas too.
We would love to visit again one day!
