Details
Aberdour Castle was built in the 1100s and went on to serve generations of three noble families – including a Regent of Scotland. One oldest standing stone castles in Scotland, though later extensively adapted, this castle is a complex of buildings dating from the 1100s to the 1600s.
Following Historic Scotlands dog policy, visitors' dogs are allowed at Aberdour Castle, but are not permitted in roofed areas. This site is a mixture of roofed and non-roofed ruins, so turns will need to be taken to view certain parts of the castle. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and not left unattended at any time.
