Details
Deer viewing at Bolderwood isn't guaranteed but the herd are fed daily by the local New Forest keeper, between the months of April and September, so the deer are more than happy to remain in the main meadow and are very accustomed to human presence. Feeding time can be between noon and 3pm.
Several of the animals are white, which is quite an uncommon colour for fallow deer to be. The platform provides an excellent photo opportunity although a zoom or telephoto lens is a very good idea, if you want close-up shots.
Dogs to be kept on a lead and kept under control throughout.

We came here for a pre-dogstival walkies! The car park is free, normally there are machines that take donations but these were out of action due to COVID restrictions. When arriving at the car park, make sure to head towards the toilets (open in September) and Vistor centre (closed in September) as this is where there is a picnic area and the guide for the 3 walking routes available (0.5, 1 and 2 miles). The markers are easy to follow (3 different colours), we followed the 2 mile route which was mainly on gravel path with one small hill on route and took about an hour with my little legs. Make sure you stop at the Deer viewing platform for some possible sightings of deer. My eagle eyed pawrents spotted some in the distance and we were able to walk down past the boundary of the enclosure towards the back to get a better look!

This is just one of several gorgeous walks in New Forest. The viewing platform gives an excellent few of the meadow and has some information on the types of deer in the area. However, there were no deer in the meadow when we were there, but as we walked through the woods we found some and actually had a better view of them.
