At Llanberis Lake Railway, the little steam engines take you on a 5 mile return journey alongside Lake Padarn, right in the heart of Snowdonia.
The 5 mile trip takes around 1 hour and takes you past some great historical places such as the 13th century Dolbadarn Castle and the 1845 slate railway route. The journey takes you through the Padarn country park, passed Llanberis twin lakes, giving you stunning views of Snowdon!
There is a short stop at Cei Llydan, which is a great spot for a lakeside picnic. You will also be able to see the driver stoking the fire here or visit the national slate museum. There is a gift shop and café here also, though dogs are not allowed in the café, there is an outdoor seating area where your dog will be welcome.
All of the trains have wheelchair access but spaces are limited.
Dogs are welcome in all places other than inside the café. Dogs can travel on the trains for £1 per dog.

Lovely little train and station. Owing to covid, we booked a compartment and enjoyed the scenic views in a small space to ourselves.
We paired this with a short stroll around Dolbadarn Castle to round out the day.
