A little doggy told us that you're looking to start running! I'm sure by now, you've probably heard just how awesome running is. Well we at Run Wales can confirm that what you’ve heard is indeed true! But where do you start?

Taking up running can seem like a scary and daunting prospect, especially if you feel out of shape, unfit, or you’re simply wanting to try running for the very first time. The Tail Wag to 5K programme will help you work up towards running a 5k, but in a gradual and progressive way that allows you to work at a manageable pace.

The challenge of completing Tail Wag to 5K can also help to boost your confidence and self-esteem, as you prove to yourself that you can set yourself a challenge and achieve a goal. Running is an easy way to improve your health; it can help you lose weight, benefit your mental health and requires very little equipment.

Remember when starting any new exercise journey it is important to take things slowly and of course have fun! Be honest with yourself about your current fitness level and pick the best starting point for you; please don’t run before you can walk, quite literally!

Two things to think about before you get started! 👇

Safety: This one is important! Always tell someone where you’re going and what you’re doing.
