The Ashton Court Estate is a historic park just 10 minutes from the centre of Bristol. It covers 850 acres of woods and grasslands in total.
Visit the Ashton Court Estate to discover the magnificent old oak trees and see the deer graze in an estate that first became a deer park over 600 years ago.
On the estate's higher ground, there are two 18-hole pitch-and-putt golf courses, with stunning views across the city. Orienteering and mountain biking are catered for with special trails, and there is plenty of open space for family games and picnics. There is also a miniature railway, which is open at selected weekends throughout the year.
Ashton Court is also one of the few places you can take off in a hot air balloon or discover the unusual sport of Disc Golf.
And once you’ve finished exploring, stop at one of the two on-site cafés to enjoy scrummy local cakes, freshly prepared sandwiches and a range of drinks and snacks. With seating indoor and out and space for the kids to play, the dog friendly cafés can be enjoyed year-round.
A stunning location for a day of adventures with your dog, it’s a must see if you are in the area.

We attended this great place when we visited Dog Fest (so you don’t get much more dog friendly than that really!) and we were amazed at how vast an area this estate was on. We were spoilt for things to do and places to walk. The dogs aren’t allowed in the estate but there are woods and huge open spaces of all different distances and difficulty depending on what you would like from a venture out with the dogs. As we have an older dog, we like to stick to the flat and have lots of little stops which was great. Later in the day, my partner took the more active dog out into the woods that has uneven ground and is a little steeper in places so wouldn’t advise those less easy on their feet or with wheelchairs/pushchairs venture in.

Perfect place to explore, get muddy and have some fun. The deer are an amazing sight to see in the city, dogs must be kept on leads in that part of the site. So much space and the hill is worth it for the views!
