Parc Cwm Darran is a lovely little campsite situated in the Welsh Valleys.
The have a large car park and overflow car park which costs £1 for up to two hours or £3 for all day. There is a campsite available for those who fancy a longer stay here and a cafe for hot food and beverages (dogs are only permitted outside, where a water bowl was available for them)
The park itself has a beautiful pond in the middle where people are able to purchase fishing passes, a play area for you smaller humans and plenty of walks to allow your dog the freedom to roam around and explore!
They have lots of weird and wonderful wooden sculptures for you to find and can easily be made into a game to entertain your small ones.
Walking routes are clearly sign posted and walk maps are available from the centre where the cafe is located.
Side note: as you drive to Parc Cwm Darran you will pass a small car park that has a sign for the Parc, continue pass there to the actual site which is sign posted about a 5-10minute drive up the road.
Lovely place to explore, scenic views and very peaceful.

One of our local favourites in the Darren Valley, a peaceful area with multiple of walks ranging in length and inclines with all paths linking together to the Ogilvie Lake. This park always has a welcoming nature with plenty of other canine companions for your dog to bump into to!
A good mix of gravel, tarmac and grass paths which range from short too long in length and steep too flat inclines which allows for on and off the lead walks. Walkable in any weather but can be muddy in the rain if you walk on the forest paths. There are 3 walking trails which can be completed within this park. As well as open space and lengthy walks for your furfriend to enjoy, there is a ‘Wild Boar Amphitheatre’ to enjoy which is created on an old former Ogilvie Colliery.
The facilities are great, with dog water bowls outside the Café, benches for resting, 2 ponds, toilets, playground, assault course, campsite, dog bins and picnic areas.
Depending which way you access the park as there’s 2 entrances there are car park facilities either side. The park is situated within the Caerphilly Country Borough Council area which is currently free to park due to the ongoing pandemic and the council is not servicing car park pay and display machines until further notice. However, in regular circumstances it is £1 for 2 hours or £3 for the whole day which is a good value fee for the different range of walks available to take your companion on.
This is one of our favourite walks on a sunny day and was suitable for Indie as a puppy to get her used to the outdoors, as well as introducing her to other dogs to help with her socialisation.
