Description
Located on the side of the A48 between Chepstow and Lydney, Hanley Farm Shop has long been a favourite of mine, and have recently finished a new extension - finally becoming Dog Friendly! Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the new café extension (pictured).
Hanley use Waterloo Tea and Brian Wogan Coffee (Bristol) in our Cafe & Coffee Shop, their delicious range of handmade cakes are all made by them on-site using local ingredients from Hanley Farm Shop and our hot and cold food is prepared by our own Chef.
Hanley also cater for those with dairy allergies and vegans (by using soya milk) and use 100% cocoa hot chocolate.
They serve the hot food menu between 9:00am - 3:30pm.
Coffee and cake is served throughout the day!
I highly recommend their pastries, fresh scotch eggs and hot food. Hanley Farm Shop have received 4 Great Taste awards for their food, as well as the 2016 Small Farm Shop of The Year.
For those environmentally and welfare conscious, Hanley and Severndale farm over 600 acres with over 240 prize winning pedigree milking cows and 100 cross bred Angus and Hereford Cattle.
Their philosophy is for their animals to be free range, grazing lush organic pastures, supplemented by traditional home-grown crops which include hay, silage, lucerne, maize, barley, peas, and kale. I can personally attest to the treatment of their cattle, they're spoiled indeed.
The milking herd also enjoy luxury accommodation during the winter months with beautiful views across the River Severn. In the spring you can visit 'dancing cow day' - where they are let out after their indoor stay!
As dogs are not allowed in the shop, please enter through the 'back' patio doors instead of the main shop doors as the main shop has open counters and nose-level food. Due to this I have put the cafe's opening times below, and not the shop. The shop is open half an hour longer than the café!
