Kalmynsi (meaning 'Calm' in Cornish) is a superb piece of design, so in harmony with its surroundings that it feels like it sprung up naturally. It’s the product of years of work from owners Patrick and Madeleine, who are delighted to share their slice of paradise with you. They’ll greet you, set you up with a welcome hamper of great local produce, then leave you to soak up the peace of the place. Lounging on the balcony, you’ll see the hills rolling away in front of you, spot a huge variety of birdlife, plus maybe deer, badgers and hedgehogs if you’re quiet and patient. Inside there’s a comfy double bed, modern kitchen and wet room all artfully incorporated into the curved space and finished to perfection. Out the back there’s a firepit where you can sit as the sun goes down and watch the light change on the hillsides.
If you fancy venturing out, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The Lizard peninsula is classic Cornwall, offering spectacular hiking to some of the UK’s most beautiful spots, like the stunning Kynance Cove. You can set off on epic all-day walks, nip out to the beach, paddle along the Helford or even drop into the local seal sanctuary. Finish the day with a wander to one of three local eateries. The Black Swan pub and The Boatyard Cafe are both about ten minutes’ walk away, while the well-loved institution of The Ship Inn at Mawgan is about forty five minutes on foot, but well worth the trip for the incredible food and beautiful scenery along the way.
