Watermead Park is located just north west of the city centre, towards the areas of Thurmaston and Birstall. It's an amazing place for a good old dog walk, but it's also great for families and children too. The park is made up of woodlands, grass areas, lakes, canals and wetlands areas - not to mention wildflower meadows and bird-spotting areas. There's a Jurassic Play trail for children, and lots of woodland trails to follow too. The main car park is located off Wanlip Road, (conveniently located close to the Hope and Anchor pub), but you can also access it easily near White Horse Lane (just after the White Horse pub). Walking around largest lake area takes about 35/40 minutes, so it's great for a lazy Sunday with the pooch.
(Handy hint: There's usually an ice cream van in the main car park during summer months!)
